1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of Art. 4 (7) GDPR is the person named in our legal notice (impressum). You can reach us at any time via info@voltage-africa.com.

2. Hosting and processor: Supabase

We use Supabase (Supabase Inc.) as a data processor to operate this platform. Supabase provides the authentication service and the server-side database in which the following data is stored:

  • Account and login data (authentication via magic link sent to your email address, optionally via password)
  • Profile data (e.g. name, country, role, specialisation, XP, level)
  • Private profile data that is not publicly visible, including your phone number (stored in the profile_private table)
  • Messages exchanged between members (messages table)
  • Technician requests sent via the platform (requests table)

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Supabase in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. Data may be transferred to a third country (in particular the USA); such transfers are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses pursuant to Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR. The server location corresponds to the region of our Supabase project. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the platform).

3. Public visibility of profile data

Certain profile fields — name, country, role, specialisation, XP and level — are displayed in the platform's public rankings and are therefore visible to all visitors, including visitors who are not logged in. This publication takes place only on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you give when signing up. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, for example by deleting your account or contacting us at info@voltage-africa.com.

4. Local storage (no cookies)

This website does not use cookies. Instead, it stores a small number of entries in your browser's local storage on your own device:

  • va_session — your login status
  • va_lang — your selected interface language
  • va_mkt_* — campaign attribution information (how you found us)
  • va_profile — a cached copy of your profile data

These entries are technically necessary for operating the platform and are not used for tracking. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website.

5. Images hosted on our own server

All images shown on this website are stored on our own web server and are delivered directly from our domain. No connection to external image services (e.g. Unsplash) is established when you visit our pages, and no data is transmitted to third-party image providers.

6. Planned advertising and analytics (currently inactive)

We plan to use Google AdSense (advertising) and Google Analytics 4 (usage analysis) in the future. These services are currently not active. They will only be activated after you have given your prior consent via a consent management platform (CMP), using Google Consent Mode to respect your choice. Without your consent, no advertising or analytics scripts are loaded.

7. No cookies, no tracking — the current state

To be clear: at present this website sets no cookies, runs no analytics tools and performs no behavioural tracking. Personal data is transmitted to our servers only when you actively use the platform's features — creating an account, editing your profile, sending messages or submitting technician requests.

8. Storage duration

We store your personal data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is erased, unless statutory retention obligations require us to keep it for longer. Data stored locally in your browser remains under your control and can be deleted by you at any time.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR)
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

To exercise any of these rights, simply contact us at info@voltage-africa.com.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy when the platform's features or the legal situation change. The current version is always available on this page.
